Drawings for Sale

Finding myself in a tough spot, here are some of my classic drawings for sale. If you're interested, let me know at theflyingtrilobite on gmail. Thanks!

All of these are $100, and on 9"x12" archival paper (actual drawings smaller than 9x12, but fill the space nicely).

Encrinurus trilobite - used as the base for my Tra-la-la-la-lobite Christmas painting.

Eremotherium and Glyptodon Skulls. Prehistoric mammal skulls drawn from the displays at the Royal Ontario Museum.

The drawing that became my Pink Parasaurolophus.

Who Holds the Gaze? - A Storify

This Storify has 3 Chapters.

  1. My thoughts on the recent Science magazine cover and what cropping out faces means in art history. Takes 30 tweets.
  2. Examples put forth from other people about the male gaze, and inverting it.
  3. Finally, a lively discussion going in-depth to see why some fine art imagery by Duchamps and Courbet may be worthwhile or just plain uuughh.

Thanks everyone for a lively discussion. I learned some things, and hope I shared some too.

Thistlescapes

Although my background is in oil and digital painting, I enjoy playing with photo apps on my iPhone. For my 40th birthday, my wife Michelle spoiled me with a new iPhone 5 and and an Olloclip. The Olloclip has 4 lenses which slide over my iPhone's camera: a fisheye, a wide angle, and two different macros: 10x and 15x.

I am no photographer, I'm a painter. But here are some thistlescapes I created last weekend with the Olloclip and sometimes the Circular app, Halftone app or with an Instagram filter.

Why Do I Do What I Do? Tell Me

Mythical Flying Trilobite Fossil III, © Glendon Mellow. [Creative Commons Licence Info]

I have been art blogging for over 7 years. Much of that is involves images of winged trilobites.

Why do I do what I do?

What is the reason behind flying trilobites? Why stick bug and bat wings on extinct aquatice animals? What does it mean? What does it evoke? Why do you keep following this stuff?

Your turn to tell me. Leave a comment below or answer on other media and I'll try to collect them all. I am curious.
